Car Key Duplication Cost in Singapore: What Affects Your Quote

Car Key Duplication Cost In Singapore – Car Key Guru

“How much to copy my car key?” is the first question most people ask us on WhatsApp. It’s a fair question, and we’d love to give a single number. The honest answer is that it depends on your car and your key, which is why we quote each job on request instead of putting one price on the website.

This guide explains what affects the price of a spare car key in Singapore, what you can send us to get a quote quickly, and what happens after that. No guesswork, no surprise extras at the counter.

Why there’s no single price for a car key copy

Car keys have changed a lot over the years. A key for one car might be a plain blade with a chip inside, while the key for the car parked next to it might be a keyless smart key that lets you start the engine with a button. These are very different products, so they’re priced differently.

Even two keys that look alike can need different work, because each car maker does things its own way. That’s why we’d rather look at your actual key and car details than quote a figure that might not apply to you.

What affects your quote

1. The type of key you have

This is the biggest factor. Most keys we see fall into one of these groups:

  • Transponder key: a key with a chip in the head that the car needs to start. It may have no buttons at all.
  • Remote key: a key with lock and unlock buttons. You still put the key in to start the car.
  • Flip key: a remote key where the metal blade folds into the key and flips out at the press of a button.
  • Smart key: used on keyless and push-start cars. You can usually keep it in your pocket or bag.

Not sure which one you have? Our guide on smart key vs remote key vs transponder key walks through how to tell, or simply send us a photo.

2. Your car’s make, model and year

Different makes and models use different keys, and the same model can change keys between years. Your make, model and year tell us which key your car needs and whether we can make a spare for it. We work with most car models, but not every key can be duplicated, so we always confirm before you come down.

3. Whether you have a working key

Bring the key you already use along with your car. A spare is made to work with your car, so we need both.

4. Where the work is done

Our standard option is for you to bring your car to us at Burlington Square on Bencoolen Street. If that’s not convenient, onsite service is available at an extra cost. Let us know when you ask for a quote and we’ll include it.

What to send us for a quote

The fastest way to get a price is to WhatsApp us on +65 8754 2299 with:

  • Clear photos of your key, front and back, with any buttons visible.
  • Your car’s make, model and year.
  • Whether you’d like onsite service, if you can’t bring the car to us.

Good photos help a lot. Take them in daylight or under a bright light, keep the key flat, and make sure nothing is blurry. If your key has a fold-out blade, a photo with the blade out is useful too.

We’ll then confirm whether we can make a spare for your car and send you a quote. You can decide in your own time. There’s no obligation to book.

What happens after you accept the quote

Once you’re happy with the price, here’s how it works:

  • Book a time. We’re appointment only, so we don’t take walk-ins. Our hours are 11.30am to 6.30pm.
  • Bring your car to 175 Bencoolen Street #01-22, Burlington Square, Singapore 189649, a short walk from Rochor MRT. Or arrange onsite service at an extra cost.
  • Bring proof of ownership. Your OneMotoring vehicle log card or your vehicle ownership record in Singpass. See what counts as proof.

Proof of ownership matters. A car key opens and starts a car, so we only make keys for the car’s owner. If we can’t confirm ownership, we won’t be able to make the key. For company, leased or rental cars, WhatsApp us first and we’ll tell you what we need.

What about phone as car key?

Phone as car key is the one service where we can share estimated prices up front, because the setup is more standard. It lets you use your iPhone or Android phone to lock, unlock and start a supported push-start car. Estimated pricing:

  • Older Asian cars: $280 (installation/programming approx. 1 hour)
  • Newer Asian cars: $280–$480 (approx. 1–2 hours)
  • European cars: $380–$580 (approx. 2–4 hours)

These are estimates. Send us your car’s make, model and year and we’ll confirm the exact price and compatibility. Read more on our phone as car key page.

Tips for a smooth quote

  • Ask before you need it. Getting a spare while your key still works is less stressful than waiting until something goes wrong.
  • Send everything in one go. Photos plus make, model and year means we can reply with a proper answer instead of more questions.
  • Check your proof early. Make sure you can open your Singpass vehicle record or find your log card before your appointment.
  • Tell us about anything unusual. If the car isn’t in your name, or it’s a company or leased car, mention it up front.
